Ever since she could hold a pencil in her hand and form letters, Nealy Gihan has loved writing. Growing up, she would fill notebooks with ideas and made-up characters. In third grade, she printed (on college-ruled paper with a construction paper cover) her first smash hit at Parkway Elementary School, The Man Who Fell In Love With Kimberly. It was quickly passed around throughout the school and even made it’s way to the middle school.

Nealy classifies herself as a Midwest Jersey girl. She was born in a blizzard in the suburbs outside of Chicago, then moved to Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, when she was seven. Then back to Naperville, Illinois, at seventeen. So her childhood was filled with lots of love for Da Bears, the Eagles, Portillo’s hot dogs, Chicago deep-dish pizza, authentic Philly cheesesteaks, the Franklin Institute, and the Cubs.

Nealy is a former newspaper reporter and copyeditor who now labors in coastal Virginia as a marketing and communications specialist by day and runs Purple Inked LLC when she’s not writing by night.

Nealy holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Hampton University and a master's in literary writing from DePaul University. She has written a couple of screenplays, which have been performed in Chicago. And her short stories are available through Amazon.

When she's not working or writing, Nealy can be found planning her next international short-term missions trip.
